Elliott Brood gives us all the feelings in new album “Country”

Three-piece Canadian alternative country band, Elliott Brood released their newest album Town & Country on Friday the 12th. This album release created their double album, which gave us the “Country” half, joining “Town”, which was released in 2023. Their single “Wind and Snow” precedes the album release as a stand-alone promotional single that also has an accompanying live video that can be viewed here.

Town & Country opens with a classic Country hit, “Rose City”, creating a sound full of Tangy Vocals and punchy instrumentals. Next up is track 2, ”Dark End Of The Road” which is more somber than the intro track and gives us more of a coming-of-age movie feel in some aspects.

Roughly halfway through the album, “Wind and Snow” Starts the beginning of new tracks, this was the albums single which fans could hear previously released earlier this year. This track makes us think we’re back in the 50’s, giving us vibes similar to Eddie Cochran’s “C’mon Everybody.” We are a big fan of this single.

“They Never Want to Sing Along” begins with a slow-paced strum, slowing the album back down. This track lacks the fast-paced energy but does not lack the emotion when listening. If hearing this song live, it would definitely be the song all the phone lights come out for. Down the tempo and energy once again, “Long Since Lost” begins acoustically with a soft whistle intro. It works as a slower track accompanied with “They Never Want to Sing Along”. These more acoustic style songs are truly beautiful and when listening you can feel the emotion in the lyrics and instrumentals.  “C’mon Let’s Go” once again brings the tempo up, It begins with a catchy vocals alongside an equally catchy guitar. It’s the perfect song to play when you are on a long drive or feeling reminisces on old memories. The lyric structure is calming but stunning.

“Bluebird wine” begins, giving fans a treat cover of Rodney Crowell’s hit with a slightly heavier, more up-beat, twist from the original. “Postcard Pretty” starts with another heavier instrumental, but it still hits with a catchy bass and guitar riff. The vocals are incredibly wonderful to listen to, keeping perfectly in theme with the classic Country sound the album started with. This track is a short-but-sweet song leaving fans wanting more of it but being just the right length at 1 minute 42 seconds.

Finally, the album closer, “French Exit” begins, still carrying their Country-style whilst being slightly calmer than previous tracks. The song starts acoustically with loud vocals before building up the sound with the drums.  The whole energy of this track perfectly fits it as a closing track, serving as the album’s end credits in a sense. When listening to “French Exit” it does feel like a goodbye to the album, and thus completing the album “Town” with the additions of “County”
